Tembotrione is a triketone herbicide with a CAS number of 335104-84-2, a molecular formula of C17H16ClF3O6S, and a molecular weight of 440.82. Cyclosulfonone belongs to the HPPD (p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxidase) inhibitor herbicides. It is mainly used in the middle and late post-emergence stages of corn fields to control grassy and broad-leaved weeds such as horse grass, Setaria viridis, convolvulus vulgaris, and panna cochinensis, and has a significant effect on weeds treated with glyphosate or ALS inhibitors.
Mechanism of action
Cyclosulfonone inhibits the HPPD enzyme in weeds, blocking the metabolic pathway of converting p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate to uromelanoic acid, which leads to the obstruction of the synthesis of plastiquinone and carotenoids. This process causes the weed meristem to lose its green color and turn white, and eventually die within two weeks. It has strong systemic properties and can be absorbed through stems and leaves and conducted throughout the entire plant. It is often combined with the safety agent dibenzoxazole acid to enhance the safety of crops.
